Icebreaker, which has its North American headquarters in Portland’s Pearl District has announced plans to donate every dollar spent at its stores Thursday to a relief fund for the earthquake victims. That includes every store in Oregon and around the world as well as all online sales.
Icebreaker became one of the outdoor industry’s first apparel brands to open a store on Facebook this month, but the company’s hybrid approach says more about how brands are tip-toeing rather than stampeding into social selling.
Icebreaker last week opened its first flagship store in the U.S. in New York City The 2,500- square-foot store, located at 102 Wooster Street, between Spring and Prince Streets, sits directly across the street from Patagonia’s SoHo location.
