On the first day of spring, the Portland Farmers Market reopens in downtown Portland. The market takes over the South Park Blocks just north of Portland State University every Saturday through Dec. 19. Early in the season, vendors bring in wild mushrooms, greens and vegetable starts, so shoppers can start growing their own fresh produce. Beef, lamb and pork are also for sale, along with jam, honey and cider.
Cue the trumpets: Farmers market season officially starts this Saturday, when Portland and Vancouver’s downtown markets open for the season.
