Friends of Trees hopes to plant 16,000 trees in the next three years, including through the “Plant It Portland!” campaign, which will add more street trees on strips between the sidewalk and the street.
The field was built with the help of Nike, the City of Portland and Portland Public Schools, as well as local donors, Roosevelt alumni and the Southlake Church.
The Roosevelt High School football team hosted its first playoff game tonight on a new field of synthetic grass. The turf, which was laid this week, is cushioned by ground-up rubber from athletic shoes called Nike Grind.
