The idea of wearing wool while sweating through a strenuous hiking session is, point blank, pretty unappealing. A pleasant workout could turn into an itchy, sticky mess pretty quick. But New Zealand company Icebreaker, in a dogged pursuit to create a natural fleece functioning for performance, recently released their Realfleece jacket.
Icebreaker, the New Zealand company that pioneered the outdoor merino wool apparel category, announced it will open its first store in Manhattan in early December 2010. The 2,500-square-foot SoHo store will be Icebreaker’s flagship, and located at 102 Wooster Street, between Spring and Prince Streets, across the street from Patagonia’s SoHo store.
Livability.com has named the Portland Farmers Market as one of the best in the nation. Portland ranks fifth on a list of the top 11 — editors couldn’t settle on just 10. The list is part of an ongoing series to highlight some of the nation’s best places to live. Livability notes Portland’s multiple markets and efforts to promote recycling and making markets accessible to low-income families.
