Farmer’s markets have been doing well all over Oregon, and this year brings the Portland farmers market’s largest expansion to date, with an additional new market Thursdays at NW 23rd.

Pressure is on to make data centers green

Locals reacted with shock and glee when Facebook revealed in January that it would be building its first data center in humble Prineville. The timing could not have been better: Crook County struggled with an unemployment rate of 20% during the worst of the recession. WELCOME FACEBOOK quickly appeared on marquees at local businesses.

Brandon Sawyer: Hemp, hemp, hurray

Portland’s event kicked off in the historic Northwest industrial district at Bridgeport BrewPub, which happens to occupy the site of a former ropewalk, circa 1887. Bridgeport even named a brew Ropewalk to honor the heritage of the narrow building, perhaps a thousand feet long, where spun hemp was once twisted into rope.
